Linda Maria Ronstadt born July 15, is a retired American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, and Latin. Many of her albums have been certified gold, platinum or multiplatinum in the United States and internationally. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award. Linda Ronstadt's memoir, titled Simple Dreams , was released on September 17, The book is available in hardcover format in English and in a Spanish language trade paperback. The book has also been released in paperback. We see the tale through the eyes of a modern young girl, the oldest child in a large rural Tex-Mex family. During a surrealistic dream, which brings to mind "The Wizard of Oz," the young chicana makes a fantastical journey with the shepherds and along the way witnesses the triumph of God's Angels over Satan's diablo's. This DVD was released November 6, and is currently out of print.

The year-old is the subject of a new documentary and a Kennedy Center honoree. Linda Ronstadt at her home in San Francisco, Calif. By Jim Farber. In the time since, various documentarians have approached about preserving her legacy on film. She rebuffed them all before relenting to the Academy Award-winning directorial team of Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. The ambivalence embedded in that last remark has everything to do with how the year-old Ronstadt views her life now. And control is important for Ronstadt. In an hourlong conversation, she breezily dismissed her abilities at vocal phrasing, critiqued her multimillion-selling versions of the American standards and made sure to mention the singers she believes sang the Mexican songs she loved as a child with far more skill than she did. Ronstadt even seemed nonplused about the Kennedy Center Honor she will receive in Washington in December.
Along the way, two of her backup musicians left to form the Eagles. The record also returned Ronstadt to her roots. Her grandfather was a Mexican bandleader, and her father had serenaded her mother with Mexican folk songs in a beautiful baritone. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona, close to the border—a place that has since become a political flashpoint. Our conversations have been edited and condensed.
